Darren Gough claimed that Fulham teenager Harvey Elliot could potentially end up being sold for £90million if he joins Liverpool and plays some games for them.

BBC Sport previously reported that Liverpool were poised to beat Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain to the Fulham teen as he was set to sign for them.

Gough claimed that if Elliot went to Anfield played a few games for them and showed some talent, then the Reds would be able to sell him for £50million to £80million or even £90million quid.

“He goes Liverpool, they’ll have to pay a fee as he’s not yet old enough to have a professional contract, if he plays some games and shows some talent, they’ll be able to sell him for £50million to £80million or even £90million quid,” said Gough on talkSPORT (17:29, Tuesday, July 9th).

“That’s why they take a gamble on these kids.”

OPINION

Elliot hasn’t even walked through the doors of Anfield yet and Gough will already have Liverpool fans drooling over how much he could potentially one day be sold for. The 16-year-old became the youngest player to feature in the Premier League by playing for Fulham in their 1-0 defeat to Wolves in May after he was brought on off the bench late in the game. Elliot went on to appear a total of two times in the Premier League for Fulham before the 2018/19 season, as he also featured against Newcastle United briefly, and he also appeared for them once in the EFL Cup. Given that it’s odd for players as young as Elliot to feature for a team as big as Fulham, it’s a testament to his potential.  However, while Gough is already dreaming of what a profitable success Elliot could be for the Reds, maybe Liverpool should complete his signing before getting too far ahead of themselves.
