Liverpool attacker Ryan Kent is expected to play a role in the Reds’ next two friendlies against Tranmere and Bradford, according to the Express.

The national newspaper claims that the 22-year-old winger is expected to feature against Tranmere on Thursday and Bradford on Sunday as several stars like Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah have been given extra time off due to international commitments.

The Express report that Kent may go on the Reds’ pre-season tour of America, where they will play Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Sporting CP, before Jurgen Klopp makes a decision about his future.

It is believed Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is waiting on Klopp to make a decision about Kent as he would like the 22-year-old to return for another loan spell at Ibrox.

OPINION

It seems Kent has at least two games to show Klopp what he has got, and if he delivers against Tranmere and Bradford, who knows what the future holds for him. The 22-year-old is unlikely to impress so much that he breaks into Klopp’s first-team plans, after all, he has Mane, Firmino and Salah for competition, but two good performances could stop him being sold. The Liverpool Echo previously reported that Kent could be one of many fringes players sold, as the Reds were looking for at least £12million for his services. However, surely if he shows enough potential then the Reds would rather loan him out than get rid of him permanently. The 22-year-old winger scored six goals and assisted nine in the 43 outings he made for Gerrard last season, and a similar spell would surely cement his transfer value as well as see him potentially improve further.
