Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided a double injury update after his team were beaten by Sevilla in a bad-tempered friendly on Sunday night.

The Reds are currently waiting to find out the fate of young left back Yasser Larouci after he was the victim of a red-card tackle from Joris Gnagnon in the 2-1 defeat in Boston, while Harry Wilson was also the victim of a nasty elbow.

Now, Klopp has provided the latest: “[It’s] much too early in the season to create headlines with saying the things I think about the situation,” he said, as per the Liverpool Echo. “Let me say how the situation is with Yasser; it looks like he was lucky but, of course, how it always is with these things we have to wait a little bit.

“He couldn’t keep on playing, so that’s the first not-so-good sign but in the dressing room it was okay, similar how it looks to Harry. Harry got a knock on his jaw and a finger in his eye, so not too cool. He should be okay as well but couldn’t carry on as well. That’s the situation.”

OPINION

This was a feisty affair over in Boston, wasn’t it? Far from a tea party, this was more of an all-out food fight. Clearly Sevilla were a bit wound up going into the game and it told over the 90 minutes. The tackle on Larouci was absolutely horrendous. It’s a disservice to even call it a tackle, because Gnagnon was absolutely nowhere near the ball. It was just a blatant kick on the youngster, a wild swing of the leg with full knowledge that he wouldn’t get the ball. Tackles like that don’t belong anywhere in football, but least of all in friendlies. Luckily, though, Klopp appears to believe he’ll wind up being alright. That’s a relief, because it was sickening viewing on Sunday night. Wilson took a nasty shot to the face and a finger in the eye, as well, so that was a bit disappointing to see in a friendly game also. Fortunately, though, neither man appears to be set for an extended spell on the sidelines, which is a huge relief for the Reds faithful.
