Championship side Reading are expected to make a move to bring Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria back to the club, according to journalist Courtney Friday.

Friday revealed the news on his personal Twitter account on Saturday, name checking Ejaria personally as a player set to arrive at the Madejski Stadium before the transfer window closes.

Royals boss Jose Gomes confirmed recently, as per The Tilehurst End, that the soft transfer embargo the south east club was under has now been lifted.

Friday provided an update: “Great news that the embargo has now been lifted. Would expect to see Ejaria, perhaps among one or two others, through the door soon. Still need to get bodies out though. #readingfc.”

OPINION

Ejaria obviously enjoyed a profitable loan spell with Reading over the second half of last season, getting his confidence back and returning to form after a temporary stint with Rangers which he himself decided to cut short. It’s obvious that he isn’t going to be competing for a first team spot at Liverpool any time soon, there’s no discussion about that. So for right now it would make sense to either send him out on another loan spell or simply sell him permanently. Friday doesn’t state which one of the two is likely to happen in this instance, but either way it would be a major surprise if Ejaria wasn’t playing in blue and white come the start of the new campaign. The Reds seem to have a few of these sorts of young players who are coming off positive loan spells, be it Ejaria, Ryan Kent or Harry Wilson. It’s up to manager Jurgen Klopp to decide what to do with them, but Ejaria seems like the least likely candidate to eventually make a first team breakthrough at Anfield.
