Xherdan Shaqiri has delivered a message to injured teammate Nathaniel Clyne via Instagram.

The full-back is expected to be sidelined for around six months with a cruciate ligament injury, as reported by the BBC.

And Shaqiri was quick to comment on a post made to Clyne’s personal account showing him recovering from his operation to help with the issue.

The Swiss international said: “Speedy recovery my bruda”.

OPINION

You have to feel for Clyne. Not only has his injury ruled him out for the rest of the year, but there’s every chance it has ruled him out of getting a move away from Anfield this summer. No doubt, in an ideal world, the full-back would want to stay on Merseyside, but when all is said an done, he isn’t getting game time and he isn’t getting any younger. The 28-year-old must realise that a move is the only way that he is likely to get first team football at this stage. He did well out on loan at Bournemouth last year, registering 2.4 tackles and 1.9 clearances per game [Whoscored], but he is never going to displace Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool now, and his days in front of the Kop are surely numbered. In that respect, this injury couldn’t have come at a worse time.
