Ryan Kent’s camp don’t believe that a club will come in with the cash to buy him on a permanent deal this summer, according to Leeds Live.

Both Rangers (where Kent spent last season on loan) and Leeds were hoping to sign Kent on loan but Jurgen Klopp seemed to kibosh that with comments after the Napoli defeat.

“His time is over for loans,” Klopp said. “At the age he is now, he needs to find a place where he can settle. We will see what happens but a loan is not planned.”

However, Leeds Live quote sources close to Kent who believe a loan deal is still on the cards.

OPINION

Liverpool have had a quiet summer but even given the lack of incomings, it seems highly unlikely that Kent will see any first-team game time this season. There are youngsters who we do see as getting in on the act – Harry Wilson and Rhian Brewster – but Kent seems surplus to requirements. However, there’s not long left before the window shuts, in England at least, and no offers for Kent have been received. Neither of his two suitors, Leeds or Rangers, will have the cash needed to make a permanent move for him, and that could leave Kent in limbo. Given that, another loan move could be possible, despite what Klopp has said. The English window shuts on August 8 and Liverpool may well hold on in the hope of attracting a late offer. If that’s the case it would hand the initiative to Rangers with the Scottish window not closing until September. If Kent hasn’t moved before August 8 then another loan north of the border could be on the cards.
