Sadio Mane was in superb form on Monday night as he fired Senegal into the knock-out stages of the African Cup of Nations with two goals in a 3-0 win against Kenya. Understandably, many Liverpool fans were blown away by how good their winger played against Kenya, but his night didn’t go completely to plan as he missed a first-half penalty before bagging a brace in the second-half to earn the win. Mane had a quiet game in the 1-0 loss to Algeria in Senegal’s last match, so it will no doubt be a massive boost to him and his nation for him to get on the scoresheet and set up a round of 16 meeting with surprise package Uganda, who beat DR Congo in the group stages. Liverpool fans have every right to be excited by Mane’s form and the potential showdown between him and Anfield team-mate Mohamed Salah if Senegal and Egypt ever come to blows. However one thing that all supporters will surely agree on is that they want their star men to avoid injury this summer so they can return to the side ready to kick off the 2019/20 Premier League season.
