Liverpool should blow Tottenham out of the water to try and sign Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham ahead of the North London club.

According to reliable news outlet Football Insider, Spurs are edging closer towards a move for Sessegnon, 19, and are confident that they can complete a £25million deal for the attacker next week.

Sessegnon is in the final year of his contract at Craven Cottage and it is understood that Fulham are resigned to losing the highly-rated England Under-21 international after he rejected the chance to sign a new deal.

Liverpool cannot let such a promising young talent, who’s on their radar [Bleacher Report], join one of their top-four rivals so Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards need to work together to strike one big deal this summer for the Fulham flyer.

Sessegnon only turned 19-years-old in May but has already made 120 appearances across all competitions in senior football for Fulham.

The London-born teenager didn’t have the best of campaigns for Fulham last season as they were relegated from the Premier League, but there is no doubting the potential that this player has.

Sessegnon can play on both the right and left-wing and can also slot in at left-back if needed, but would be expected to be a full-back who’s geared more towards attacking than doing his defensive duties.

According to stats by WhoScored, despite Fulham’s relegation, Sessegnon was one of the best attacking players in the Premier League who were under the age of 20.

Out of those who made more than five Premier League appearances, Sessegnon ranked joint-second with Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi for average key passes [0.9] and fourth for average total passes [19.6], ahead of Man City’s Phil Foden.

Sessegnon also ranked third for average successful dribbles per match [0.9] and fourth for average shots at goal per match [0.8].

Fulham struggled all season but to have Sessegnon knocking heels with some of the best young players in the Premier League is testament to how good this teenager is and why Liverpool need to swoop in and stop Tottenham from signing him before it’s too late.
