Simon Mignolet has sent a message of congratulations to Liverpool duo Alisson Becker and Roberto Firmino after their Copa America success with Brazil.

The Belgian stopper sent the message to his Anfield teammates after Brazil won the trophy after beating Peru 3-1 on Sunday evening.

Mignolet delivered a six-word message on his personal Twitter account saying: “Another medal for the trophy cabinet.”

It was Brazil’s first Copa America title in 12 years, with Alisson ever-present in the run to the title, and Firmino playing 75 minutes at the Maracana.

The South American pair won their second trophy in just over a month after Liverpool won their sixth Champions League at the beginning of June.

OPINION

Mignolet has become the ultimate professional in this past season at Liverpool. The Belgian international has been linked with a number of moves away, with the Mirror reporting that Crystal Palace and Brighton held an interest in him. Despite this, Mignolet has decided to stay at Anfield – something that will no doubt please Jurgen Klopp, who will face no arguments from the fact that his back-up keeper will cause no problems while supporting his teammates. Last season after Alisson’s arrival from Roma, Mignolet went on to only make two appearances, both in cup competitions as the 31-year-old failed to feature in the Premier League. Mignolet currently has one-year left on his current deal in Merseyside, with his £60,000 per-week keeper [Spotrac] surely not expected to make many appearances once again next season. Liverpool gave the keeper the option to leave according to the Evening Standard, and he still decided to stay, there is no arguing that he is one of the best back-up keepers with a great attitude in the Premier League.
