Jamie Carragher has taken to Twitter to blast Bobby Duncan’s agent for not giving the Liverpool teenager good enough advice on his career.

Duncan, 18, joined Liverpool from Manchester City last year but is yet to break into Jurgen Klopp’s senior squad for a competitive match and is now trying to force his way out of the club.

Saif Rubie, Duncan’s agent, posted a statement via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday to explain the situation and also accused Liverpool of “mentally bullying” and “destroying” his client’s life.

Liverpool legend Carragher has now suggested that Duncan should stay put at Liverpool to try and fight for his spot in a post that is aimed at Rubie.

“I know Bobby and his family well, he’s young and at that age we all want everything right now. Played for the first team in pre-season which is a great start and he should try and develop this season and maybe make the bench in Carabao Cup. That should be the advice you’re giving him you [clown],” said Carragher via his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

A lot of people in football will agree that some agents are the worst thing about the game, and it does seem as though Rubie’s best interests are not that of Duncan. While people should be sympathetic towards Duncan if he is struggling with mental health issues from the alleged “bullying”, releasing that kind of information in this statement could be detrimental to the teenager’s state of mind and rather than it being made public, help should be sought after from a doctor or some kind of professional. No one would recommend a footballer to bring up mental illness in a statement about wanting to leave the club. If it is a lie then that is disgusting and there will be people who assume that. However if it is not a lie, it is something that should be a top priority for Rubie to deal with, rather than trying to get a move away from Liverpool for his client.
