Bobby Duncan’s agent Saif Rubie has hit back at Jamie Carragher on Twitter as a row breaks out over the future of the Liverpool teenager.

Rubie released a statement via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday which claims that Liverpool are forcing Duncan, 18, to stay put at Anfield against his wishes.

It also accuses Liverpool of “mentally bullying” the teenage striker, who is now suffering with mental health issues.

Carragher called Rubie a clown on Twitter after reading the statement and accused the agent of giving Duncan poor advice on his career.

Rubie responded by bringing up the time when Carragher was videoed spitting at someone from his car and telling the Anfield legend to mind his own business.

“Do you also want to give advice on how to spit at people from the outside of a car? You’re the last person to say or know what’s really going on behind the scenes. Focus on your job and I’ll focus on mine,” he said on his Twitter account.

OPINION

How is Carragher “the last person” to have any say on anything to do with Duncan? Duncan is Steven Gerrard’s cousin, someone who Carragher definitely knows very well and as the Anfield legend says, he knows Duncan’s family and probably him. Carragher is a Champions League winner, a Liverpool hero and a former England international who has played on the biggest of stages in the World Cup. How on earth is he not qualified to give Duncan some advice? Yes he is at a tough stage of his career but giving up after one year and trying to move on is not going to help him play for the club that his legendary cousin played for. It’s all a messy situation but it all seems like one that is unfixable now and Duncan will end up getting his wish to move on. One thing Duncan must do is sack his agent. Rubie clearly does not have the striker’s best interests at heart.
