Jamie Carragher has taken to Twitter to take a cheeky pop at fellow Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville ahead of the Liverpool’s Premier League opener on Friday night.

The duo will be presenting from Anfield last the Reds face off against newly-promoted Norwich City, and Carragher has been quick to get back into the swing of things when it comes to ribbing his colleague.

Sharing a photograph to his personal account of Neville and Liverpool’s mascot Mighty Red covering their eyes at the sight of each other, he wrote: “Strange looking person with a big nose can’t bear to look”.

OPINION

If you look up “love-hate relationship” in the dictionary, you will see a photo of Neville and Carragher. The duo seem to spend as much time taking the mick out of each as they do analysing matches, and it’s good to see them getting up to their old antics right from the off this season too. As for who will hold the bragging rights come the end of the campaign, Manchester United are so far off the pace that Neville will consider anything other than a Liverpool title win as a success. As for Carragher, he has reason to be cautiously optimistic. After last year’s scintillating title bid, who can say how far the Reds will go this time around? They may not have brought anybody in, but they have a strong squad and a lot of belief, not to mention the small matter of a Champions League trophy in their cabinet. Expect another breathtaking scramble to the top between themselves and Manchester City.
