Simon Mignolet has taken to Twitter to wish former club Liverpool luck ahead of their new Premier League campaign.

The Reds start things off by hosting Norwich City at Anfield on Friday evening, and the Belgian stopper will not be involved for the first time 2013 after completing a move to Club Brugge earlier this week.

But the 31-year-old still took the time to wish his ex-teammates all the best before their curtain raiser.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, he said: “Good luck for tonight and the rest of the season! YNWA”.

OPINION

This is good to see. There are few clubs who can match the history and passion that Liverpool boast, and there seem to be few clubs who can touch a player in the same way that the Reds do. Mignolet may not have had the best of finishes to his time at Anfield, but for a long time after he joined the club from Merseyside, he was a really decent asset, and a model professional throughout. Even last year, when Alisson Becker joined and it became clear that his days were numbered, he was loyal and willing to be called on whenever he was needed. At 31, now is a good time for him to move back to his home country as his career winds down, but he leaves behind him a stellar Premier League career in which he made 670 saves in 245 appearances, as well as 80 clean sheets [Premier League].
