Liverpool winger Ryan Kent is attracting interest from clubs in Belgium and France, according to Sky Sports News.

The 22-year-old is understood to still favour a return to Rangers, where he spent last season on loan, but the Scottish club are unlikely to be able to offer the Reds the permanent deal they are looking to secure for the player.

As a result, Kent is said to be keeping his options open, after having set his heart on an exit from Anfield before the close of the European transfer window on September 2nd.

OPINION

At this stage, it feels as if the only positive resolution to this ongoing saga will come if Kent is allowed to leave Merseyside. In an ideal world, that would probably see the player move back to Ibrox. The 22-year-old flourished north of the border, and was so good that he picked up the Scottish PFA’s Young Player of the Year award. He knows the Scottish game now, is adored by the fans, and is clearly comfortable in that environment. Even if the Reds cannot secure a permanent deal this summer, surely a loan with an obligation to buy would be a gesture of good will towards Steven Gerrard that would be more than agreeable to all parties. The alternative is sending Kent to the continent. Make no mistake, he has the talent and ambition to succeed in France or Belgium, but it would also be an unexpected step for him, and while there are several young British players doing great things in Europe at the moment, it feels like the sort of deal that you have to be absolutely committed to.
