Dejan Lovren has taken to Instagram to send Mo Salah a tongue-in-cheek message.

The Liverpool forward posted a video to his personal account advertising the new Adidas X19 boots, which seemed to suggest that they allowed the Egyptian King to run on water.

Salah captioned the post: “Speed + Water =” and an emoji of a man surfing.

But Lovren was quick to question the science behind the comment, responding: “Speed + Water = Speedboat * m2 + 3.5% body fat – no eating chocolate = the answer is so simple people”.

OPINION

Lovren loves nothing more than popping up and giving Salah a hard time for his social media activity, and that has proven to be the case again here. The Croatian may not have his formula down to a tee, but the point he is making still stands. Salah is more than just a product of his boots, and in reality, he is borderline superhuman. The forward completed 3.6 shots on goal, 1.8 key passes, and 2.1 successful dribbles per match in the Premier League last season, as per Whoscored, and has already started this campaign at a canter too, with one goal and one assist in his two league appearances so far. Last year, in a season where he was supposedly beneath the peak of his powers, he still hit 22 Premier League goals, and won a golden boot. When you take all that into consideration, there must be times when he and his opponents genuinely believe that he could walk on water.
