Former Liverpool full-back Alberto Moreno has sent a message to current Reds midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of the UEFA Super Cup final.

Jurgen Klopp’s men line up against Chelsea in Istanbul on Wednesday night as the winners of the Champions League and Europa League respectively.

And Oxlade-Chamberlain posted a photo of himself in preparation for that match to his personal Instagram.

Responding to that post, Moreno, who left the club earlier this summer, said: “Come on brooooooo.

“All the best for you and the boys.”

OPINION

This is nice to see, isn’t it? Moreno might play for Villarreal now, but it’s clear that he still has a real affection for the Reds. Last season may have been a pretty miserable one for the Spaniard, playing a grand total of 155 Premier League minutes, averaging 1.5 tackles and one interception per match, as per Whoscored, but the fact that he is evidently still so fond of the club speaks volumes as to how well Jurgen Klopp has done to build a dressing room culture focused on unity and togetherness. Most players who are let go by a team at the end of their contract can’t get out of the door quick enough, but you get the distinct impression with Moreno that he would happily pull on a red shirt again tomorrow if he could. The man to thank for that kind of unerring loyalty is surely Klopp.
