Brazil: Durham is a muppet

Image for Brazil: Durham is a muppet

Alan Brazil has slammed fellow talkSPORT pundit Adrian Durham for his latest comments on Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.

Speaking on his show yesterday, Durham suggested that the current Kop skipper could be a better captain and leader than Anfield legend Steven Gerrard, who he assumed the captaincy from.

But Brazil is having none of it.

Responding to a clip of Durham voicing his opinion on his own show, he said: “Has he got a problem? What brings him to come out with rubbish like that?

“By the way, I’m not having a go at Jordan, but Gerrard was one of the special Liverpool players, and he was a leader.

“What’s that muppet on about?”

OPINION

Strong words from Brazil, but you have to agree with him here. By no means is Henderson a bad player, and every time he steps onto that pitch in a red shirt, he leaves absolutely everything out there. Lifting a sixth European title in the club’s history will ensure that he goes down win history amongst the greats who have graced Anfield over the years, and his stats show just how important he is for Jurgen Klopp’s men. A pass completion rate of 87.2% last season, as well as 1.4 tackles won and 3.3 long balls per game, as per Whoscored, illustrate just how vital he is in breaking down play and setting his team off on the front foot. When all is said and done, however, Henderson is not Gerrard. The latter is probably one of the five greatest players the Reds have ever had, and while Henderson is impressive, he is not at that level. If he keeps working, he could be remembered on a similar level to Gerrard, but he will never outdo him.
