Football Insider reported on Friday that Leeds United were ready to launch a loan-to-buy swoop for Liverpool attacker Ryan Kent with them viewing the 22-year-old as a potential replacement for Kemar Roofe. The reliable football outlet claimed that Leeds were preparing for life without Roofe as he seems set to join Anderlecht.  While Kent impressed on loan at Scottish giants Rangers last season, he scored six goals while assisting six, it seems many Leeds fans were fuming over the idea of signing Kent from Liverpool. Most Leeds fans took issue with the idea that Kent could replace Roofe, pointing out that the Reds player is a winger rather than an out-and-out forward, and one was even ready to write-off the club’s dreams of finishing in the top-six this season, if this transfer report came true. It’s no surprise this report didn’t go down well with lots of Leeds supporters, as it’s hard to see Kent being capable of replacing Roofe. The Leeds forward scored 15 Championship goals last season, averaging a goal every 167 minutes (Source: BBC), whereas Kent’s goalscoring record in England’s second-tier currently stands at three goals in 54 appearances. Luckily for Liverpool though, Leeds fans don’t dictate their club’s transfer policy so there’s a chance Kent will be taken off their hands before the window slams shut.
