Liverpool are set to receive £18.3million from Barcelona after Phillipe Coutinho secured a move to Bayern Munich, according to Sport.

The Spanish publication claim that the La Liga giants sanctioned an exit for the Brazilian as they look to balance out their books and leave more room in their salary cap.

Sport reports that the German club will play £18.3million for the one-year loan deal this season, the exact amount that Barcelona have got to pay Liverpool.

Coutinho left Anfield back in 2018 but failed to make much of an impact at the Nou Camp, scoring only 18 goals in his 68 La Liga appearances.

Despite not selling any senior players, Liverpool are still set to receive a cash injection this summer – something they will surely be delighted about. The Reds were interested in a move to bring Coutinho back to Anfield, according to talkSPORT, less than two years after the Brazilian left. That move didn’t materialise and Liverpool are still set to capitalise, with Coutinho moving to Germany and leaving them with a large sum. With the quality available to them in their front-three, a move for the 27-year-old would not have made sense, with the likes of Mohamed Salah stepping up since arriving and taking Jurgen Klopp’s side to another level. Either way, Liverpool look set to benefit – as a move for Coutinho would have made zero sense. The playmaker was only involved in seven league goals last season and struggled to make an impact behind the likes of Lionel Messi, something which possibly proves he only performs when he is the main attacking threat from behind the striker.
