Liverpool produced a strange performance against Burnley on Saturday, but ultimately got the win they wanted at Turf Moor, triumphing 3-0. One of the key men in the victory – surprise, surprise – was attacker Roberto Firmino, who claimed an assist for Sadio Mane’s crucial second goal. The Reds struggled to break Sean Dyche’s side down for much of the opening period, but if anyone looked like providing the creativity necessary to infiltrate an organised Burnley defence, it was Liverpool’s mercurial Brazilian. There are plenty of fans, as you can see below, who truly appreciate Firmino’s work rate, intelligence and importance to Jurgen Klopp’s team. There are countless stars in this Liverpool side, but Firmino is just as vital as any of them. He had two options for Mane’s goal: the Senegal international or his fellow forward Mohamed Salah. As usual, Firmino picked the right one. The weight of his pass was perfect and Mane duly finished it off. Credit to both men, but Firmino is an undeniably crucial cog in the Liverpool machine. He got his reward late on with a quite stunning goal – exactly what his performance deserved.
