OPINION

Rhian Brewster is a fairly unique proposition. The youngster has been given so much coverage and attention during his fledgling career that he already must feel like a household name to many Liverpool fans, and yet he is still yet to make his first team debut for Jurgen Klopp’s men. In some respects, that is a reflection of how precocious he is. It seems as if everything he touches for the U23s turns to gold at the moment, and he proved it once again with yet another strike for the youngsters against Southampton. Increasingly it is becoming patently clear that Brewster is a finisher of the highest order, and it is surely only a matter of time before he is given a chance to prove himself with the first team. Jurgen Klopp is a fan, and had it not been for that devastating injury that ruled him out for most of last season, who’s to say that he wouldn’t already have a host of outings under his belt. As it is, Brewster is still waiting, but if there is a silver lining to an injury like that it is probably that he is another year older and wiser, and judging by his current run of form, he is ready for the big time.
