Tranmere have made an approach to sign Liverpool left-back Adam Lewis, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football outlet claim that the League One club have entered talks over a potential loan deal for the highly-rated 19-year-old.

Football Insider report that Liverpool are yet to decide on whether to sanction the move for Lewis, with the Reds lacking cover for Andrew Robertson should he get injured or suspended this season.

Lewis has yet to make his full senior debut for Liverpool but did feature in pre-season in a win against Tranmere. The 19-year-old did, however, make 29 appearances for the under-23’s last season.

OPINION

The reality of Lewis getting first-team football this season at Liverpool is very thin, even if Robertson was to miss games for any apparent reason. The Reds should snap at the chance to send their highly-rated talent to Tranmere, who would offer Lewis the perfect opportunity to gain a full season worth of experience and prepare him for senior football in the future. Liverpool know Lewis can perform in their under-23’s side, with the youngster scoring once and delivering six assists from left-back, following the mould of the attacking Robertson. It would mean more should Lewis take to League One and continue his rich vein of form, with other youngsters such as Harry Wilson and Ryan Kent having earned valuable experience in the football league in the past few seasons. Fellow young full-back Yasser Larouci featured more heavily in pre-season which would suggest that he is ahead of Lewis in the pecking order, another reason as to why Liverpool and Klopp should sanction the move to Tranmere in the next fortnight.
