BT Sport host Jake Humphrey was left drooling over Roberto Firmino’s assist for Mohamed Salah’s goal in Liverpool’s 3-1 win against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.

Firmino came off the bench in the first half to replace the injury Divock Origi and went on to have a major impact as the Reds came from behind to earn all three points at Anfield.

In the build-up to Salah’s goal, Firmino played a beautiful one-two with the Egypt international in which he showed a great piece of skill to find his attacking team-mate.

Humphrey was clearly a huge fan of the Brazilian’s skill.

“Look at this. Filthy flick from Firmino. Decent finish from Mo Salah as well,” said Humphrey on BT Sport 1 after the match on Saturday [02:29pm].

OPINION

It was such a superb piece of skill, vision and flair by Firmino to flick that ball into Salah but we should not take credit away from the Egyptian because he did incredibly well to read the pass and then stick the ball past Martin Dubravka in the Newcastle goal. It was one moment that just sums up Liverpool’s front-three. If you take away one of Sadio Mane, Salah or Firmino, then there’s more than likely going to be an issue. Firmino came off the bench to replace the injured Origi and the game turned on it’s head like a switch was flicked. Firmino tied to entire attack together with his passing, hold-up play and beautiful skills as shown in the clip above. Liverpool are now five points clear at the top of the table with five matches played and while it is early days, they need to make sure there are no slip-ups in the coming weeks and hope that Manchester City continue to drop points as they did against Tottenham and Norwich.
