Matt Le Tissier has predicted that Liverpool will walk away from Napoli with all three points in the first game of their Champions League campaign.

The Sky Sports pundit has backed Jurgen Klopp’s men to win the game 2-1 in Naples, kickstarting their defence of the illustrious trophy.

Liverpool will be looking to avenge their defeat from the same stage last year, where Carlo Ancelotti’s side beat the Reds by a single goal in a 1-0 victory at the San Paolo Stadium.

Le Tissier has backed Liverpool to continue their perfect start to the season on his Super 6 predictions, with Jeff Stelling the only other pundit to predict the same winner.

OPINION

Liverpool have been handed a tough opening fixture in the Champions League but will be grateful that their group isn’t as hard as last season. With Paris Saint-Germain also in their group in the last campaign, the pressure against the Italians was massive as they simply couldn’t afford to drop points in both games. The Reds go into the clash with the Serie A side potentially without Andrew Robertson who is set to be assessed beforehand and he would be a massive miss in defence, not only for his defending but more importantly his ability to get forward and bring a new dimension to the Liverpool side. Klopp will want to kickstart the Champions League campaign with nothing less than a win, and a result that would send a message to the rest of the competition that the Reds are here to defend their title, and that they are a side who should be feared by others. The 2-1 prediction from Le Tissier would be the perfect start, and the Sky Sports pundit is clearly confident of the Premier League giants ahead of them going into the game on Tuesday.
