OPINION
Liverpool fans have reacted in a rather mixed way after James Milner failed to make an appearance in Vincent Kompany’s testimonial at the Etihad on Wednesday. Milner was on the teamsheet to play for City Legends, as confirmed by Man City’s official Twitter account, but remained on the bench throughout the 90 minutes as the game ended in a 2-2 draw against PL All-Stars. Some Liverpool fans are annoyed that they sat through the match to not even get a glimpse of the Anfield midfielder while others are thankful that he did not play and risk picking up an injury just a few days before the Reds take on Newcastle United in the Premier League. That could be why Milner didn’t play. He might have been under strict instruction by Jurgen Klopp to not play in the match due to the risk of picking up an injury. After playing Newcastle this weekend, Liverpool kick off their Champions League against Napoli next week before a huge match against Chelsea. Injuries are the last thing that Klopp wants right now.
