OPINION
It’s a sad reality, but the words “FIFA” and “corruption” have become synonymous in recent years. As reported by the BBC, the governing body were mired in scandal earlier in the decade, and while there has been something of an operation to restore faith in football’s most powerful entity, that hasn’t necessarily gone too well, especially given the controversy that currently surrounds the awarding of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar, as per The Times. So it is hardly surprising, therefore, to hear of more allegations against FIFA. The latest pertains to The Best awards that were held earlier in the week. Lionel Messi won the men’s award for best player, but according to the Daily Mail, several countries have alleged that their votes were ignored or misallocated. At least one of those nations, Sudan, have suggested that they in fact voted for Liverpool ace Mo Salah, but were shown to have instead picked Messi as their first choice. Understandably, Kop fans weren’t too thrilled with the news, with many venting their frustrations with a governing body that continues to make itself look inadequate and corrupt with every passing scandal.

Absolutely the most corrupt football organisation on the planet. I think everyone should boycott the fifa World Cup, and create another world cup competition minus fifa.
