Adrian Durham has claimed that there is a “strong argument” to say that Jurgen Klopp is the best manager in the world.

The German guided Liverpool to a sixth European title last season and currently sits atop the Premier League with an eight point gap and a 100% record this season.

And speaking on talkSPORT, Durham was quick to praise the charismatic gaffer.

He said: “You know what, I think there’s a strong argument to say that he’s the best in the world.”

OPINION

You’d struggle to find a Liverpool fan who didn’t agree with Durham on this one. Klopp has become a darling of the Kop, and his record speaks for itself. He may have only won the one title during his spell at Anfield so far, but he it also happened to be the biggest one on on offer. Looking beyond his silverware, however, the progress he has brought about has been exceptional. This season, his side have averaged 2.54 points per match in all competitions, as per Transfermarkt. Compare that number to his first season, when he managed just 1.65, and it’s clear how far this Liverpool side has come under his tutelage. If he can win a league title this year, outwitting Pep Guardiola in the process, then there can surely be no debate as to his place as the best manager in the world. For now, there will be doubters, but nobody can deny that he is simply magnificent.
