Jake Humphrey used Liverpool to highlight how Manchester United’s issues were not set to be solved by spending even more money in the transfer market.

The BT Sport presenter stated, via his verified Twitter account, that the net spend at Liverpool over the last five seasons was around £150million whereas Man United’s net-spend was nearer the £550million mark.

Humphrey suggested that based on this, Man United’s issues were not going to be resolved by spending more money which prompted Twitter account Jonny Sharples to ask what would happen if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side bought all Liverpool’s players.

The presenter didn’t ignore the question and instead cheekily replied that it wouldn’t just be Liverpool’s squad that Man United would need to fix their issues.

“They’d still need Klopp,” wrote Humphrey.

OPINION

As a Liverpool fan, you can’t help but like Humphrey’s tweets about the ongoing situation at Manchester United, after all while the Reds’ fierce rivals are struggling so much so that they sit 12th in the league ahead of the international break, Klopp’s team sit top of the table, eight points clear of second-place Manchester City. The league table does not lie and shows the gulf in quality between the two teams. Humphrey’s remarks will also go down well as it further highlights how the Reds are lucky to have Klopp in the hot seat as he is capable of being a gamechanger himself. The only thing that will make Humphrey’s tweets not enjoyable in hindsight, is if Man United get back to form at Liverpool’s expense after the international break. The two Premier League giants are set to clash in the first round of league fixtures after the break, however, based on current form, you wouldn’t bet against the Reds racking up another win. Liverpool have won all of their league games so far this season, whereas Man United have already lost three matches and their latest game saw them lose 1-0 to Newcastle United and considering Steve Bruce’s side were ripped apart by Leicester City recently, it says a lot about the current quality of Solskjaer’s squad.
