Gary Lineker has hailed Trent Alexander-Arnold following his performance in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Tottenham on Sunday.
The Reds defender put in a fine display at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s men battled back from a goal down to maintain their unbeaten start to the season, courtesy of strikes from Jordan Henderson and Mo Salah.
Writing on his personal Twitter account after the match, Lineker said: “I know I’ve said this a lot, and apologies if it’s wearisome, but crikey Trent Alexander-Arnold is a magnificent footballer.”

There’s nothing wearisome about it Gary, no need to apologise. Nobody associated with Liverpool will ever get sick of Alexander-Arnold putting in the kind of performance he did against Spurs on Sunday, nor will they get sick of hearing him pick up plaudits like this from pundits galore. The England international is establishing himself as one of the best young players in world football, and with every passing week he looks more and more like the real deal. Against Tottenham he made a colossal seven key passes, and picked up a Whoscored rating of 7.62 in one of the best full-back performances you are likely to see this season. Sometimes it can be easy to forget that he is still only 21, and if he continues at this rate, lord knows how far the starlet can rise.
