Many Liverpool fans went wild for Harvey Elliott on Wednesday after he wowed for Reds’ U-19s in the 2-0 victory over Genk in the UEFA Youth League. Elliott played 89 minutes of the U-19s’ latest fixture and while he didn’t get on the scoresheet, it seems the youngster made the biggest impression on the Liverpool supporters who tuned in to watch the game. The 16-year-old played Curtis Jones through on goal in the second half and his fantastic pass as well as his vision to spot his teammate in space, had many people gushing. One Liverpool fan even claimed that Elliott was better than football icon Lionel Messi, which was the most dramatic way of showing just how highly they rate him. It shouldn’t be a shock that the 16-year-old looked a class above on Wednesday as he did standout when featuring for the senior team earlier this season. Elliott played a major part in the Reds’ 2-0 win over MK Dons in the EFL Cup as he created enough space to have four shots on goal, made three key passes and even have time to complete four dribbles which left his opponents bamboozled (Source: WhoScored). While the teenager was playing lower-league opposition, to be able to dominate a game like that against older opponents when only 16-years-old, is a testament to his talent.
