Liverpool are preparing to sell midfielder Adam Lallana next summer if he doesn’t get his act together before then, according to Football Insider.

The outlet claims that the club will listen to offers for the 31-year-old, on a reported £110,000-per-week [Source: Spotrac], if he can’t work his way into the team more regularly before the end of the season.

The England international has only started one game for the Reds this campaign, the Carabao Cup victory over MK Dons last month, as he continues to try and break back into the reckoning after numerous injury problems.

However, a January move for the former Southampton man will almost certainly be blocked, with Jurgen Klopp not wanting to lose talent mid-way through the campaign.

OPINION

This seems like a good decision from Liverpool. Obviously it would be a bad idea to shift Lallana mid-season when he could well play a big part over the second half of the campaign, especially if somebody goes down injured, but if he’s not at least featuring regularly by the end of the campaign – even if he’s not starting – then it’s got to be time to give him the boot. Interestingly, Lallana’s actually played quite a bit of football over his time on Merseyside. Everyone goes on about his injury problems, but he’s still managed 161 appearances for the Reds in just over five seasons [Source: Transfermarkt]. When you divide that it boils down to 32.2 games a season on average. Now, that’s really not as bad as we are often led to believe. However, he’s struggled for game time over the last campaign and this one thus far, and so if that doesn’t change then it’s probably going to be time to get a decent transfer fee for him while the club still can.
