Liverpool had representatives watching FC Porto’s 3-0 win over Famalicao on Sunday, according to Scouts in Attendance.

The Reds were joined by scouts from Merseyside rivals Everton, as well as fellow Premier League outfits Watford and Crystal Palace.

The report also names 17-year-old forward Fabio Silva as a potential target for scouts to keep an eye on, with the teenager scoring just two minutes after entering the action as a substitute.

OPINION

It’s always good to hear that scouts have been bobbing around looking for the next big thing, and while there are no guarantees that mission like this will ever lead to business further down the line, at the very least it shows that there is intent. With regards to Fabio Silva, it is important to recognise that he may not be the player the Reds were there to watch. That being said, even if he wasn’t, he has surely caught the eye with his latest outing. With one goal from two shots in just four minutes, as per Whoscored, it’s fairly clear that he’s a bit of a live wire, and if there’s one thing that Jurgen Klopp loves, it’s somebody with a bit of a spark. To be playing for Porto at the age of 17 is something, to be scoring is another matter entirely. Keep an eye on this lad.
