Harry Redknapp has predicted that Tottenham will give Liverpool a tough game at Anfield on Sunday despite Mauricio Pochettino’s side being in a poor run of form that sees them sit seventh in the Premier League standings.

Spurs have not won in their last two league games, suffering a 3-0 defeat to Brighton before scraping a 1-1 draw against bottom-of-the-table Watford last weekend.

They did hammer Red Star Belgrade 5-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday to bounce back to winning ways, but facing unbeaten Liverpool in the league is bound to be a hugely different task.

Ex-Spurs boss Redknapp has suggested that his former club will cause issues for the Reds this weekend when they meet on Merseyside.

“Any game at Anfield is a special game,” Redknapp told Sky Sports. “For me, there’s nowhere in the country where there’s an atmosphere like Liverpool.

“When that crowd sings, for me it’s the most moving place to be in football – it’s incredible.

“It’s a big game for Tottenham.

“Tottenham have been out of form but they’re dangerous opposition for Liverpool.

“Liverpool will be looking at this game knowing just what a difficult game it’s going to be.

“I think Tottenham will go there and make a real game of it.”

OPINION

Liverpool versus Tottenham is usually always a spectacle and this weekend’s meeting at Anfield promises to be a big one. Liverpool lost their 100 per cent record with a draw against Manchester United last week but that should not cause too many problems in the long-term and may even offer a boost going into this game. As for Spurs, their fortunes in the league are very much different. At the moment, it is hard to see Pochettino’s side qualifying for the Champions League next season because their form has been rotten. That 3-0 defeat to Brighton was shambolic and they only just managed to draw against Watford if it wasn’t for some awful VAR decisions. Spurs are likely to step up for this game though and Liverpool need to be prepared. Jurgen Klopp’s defence could be the key but they need to start keeping clean sheets more frequently than they are.
