Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has taken to Instagram to hail Liverpool teammate Fabinho.

The Brazilian turned 26 on Wednesday, helping the Reds beat Genk 4-1 in the Champions League in the process.

And in acknowledgment of his special day, Oxlade-Chamberlain posted to his story a photo of himself facing Fabinho when the two played for Arsenal and Monaco respectively, alongside the caption: “Happy belated bday my Brazilian brother.

“It’s much nicer playing with you than against you!”

OPINION

It’s good to hear Fabinho getting the praise he deserves from his Liverpool teammates. The Brazilian struggled a little when he initially moved to England, but over the course of the past few months, he has gone about establishing himself as one of the most important players in Jurgen Klopp’s squad. An ever-present in the Champions League and Premier League so far this season, he has averaged a pass completion rate of 87.5%, as well as registering 2.7 tackles and 1.3 interceptions per game, as per Whoscored. Every team needs somebody to do the dirty work, and Fabinho is proving that when it comes to breaking up play and disrupting the opposition, there are few as adept as he is. He is slowly but surely becoming a world class talent.
