Robbie Savage has predicted that Liverpool will win 3-1 against Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League after their 100 per cent record was ruined with the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford last week while Tottenham have been in a rut in the league and find themselves seventh in the table.

Savage believes that Spurs’ 5-0 win against Red Star Belgrade in the week will boost confidence among Mauricio Pochettino’s men but he is still tipping Liverpool to win 2-1 this weekend.

“Liverpool face another Premier League heavyweight for the second weekend in succession as they welcome Tottenham to Anfield,” Savage said on the Mirror website.

“It will be the first time the pair have faced off since they met in June’s Champions League final.

“While the Reds have prospered following their win, Spurs have floundered, but bounced back from recent results to hit five past Red Star Belgrade in midweek, and will head to Merseyside with renewed confidence.”

OPINION

Liverpool are very good at home in front of the Anfield faithful and that is one of the key reasons as to why they are more likely to win this match than anything else. Tottenham have been poor all season even though Pochettino was widely seen to have improved the strength of his squad over the summer transfer window. It seems as though there is something going badly wrong behind the scenes in North London and in comparison, everything seems rosy at Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp and his players were no doubt frustrated after their draw against Manchester United last week but, the Reds still managed to come behind to earn a point in a match that saw some controversial refereeing decisions. Mohamed Salah is back to fitness which is great and that means Liverpool should be in full flow against Tottenham and earn a win. One thing that is important though is keeping a clean sheet because the Reds are leaking goals that could come back to haunt them.
