Liverpool starlet Rhian Brewster has revealed that Jurgen Klopp has a plan to give him more first-team minutes this season.

The young forward remained at the Reds this season and was given the chance to lead the line in the 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over MK Dons alongside a number of other academy players.

Brewster revealed that he is being patient and waiting for his opportunity with the senior side, as Klopp clearly knows what he is doing in charge at Anfield.

“You’ve just got to be patient,” he told Sky Sports.

“Obviously, the boss has a plan for me.

“He knows what he’s doing, clearly.”

The 19-year-old has scored three goals in his seven appearances this season and has also continued to shine at international level for England under-21s under Aidy Boothroyd.

OPINION

Brewster is right, he needs to be patient going forward at Anfield. He might need to be much more patient then he initially thinks though, with the options that Klopp has meaning he will need to do a lot to catch the eye of the German boss going forward. Liverpool currently have the most prolific front three in world football with Mohamed Salah, Robert Firmino, and Sadio Mane – with Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri on the bench waiting to come on. That means the 19-year-old will need to start scoring more or hope that a couple of his rivals are sidelined through injury, something no one will wish on their teammates. Klopp may have a plan for his young striker, but when he is given the chance to impress, he must do more than what he did against MK Dons when he looked out of his depth – something he will surely be looking forward to doing.
