Liverpool have more than their fair share of superstars.

With Alisson Becker and Virgil Van Dijk marshalling things at the back, and with Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah, and Sadio Mane dazzling defences at the other end of the pitch, there’s a smorgasbord of talent to be blown away by at Anfield at the moment.

But one player who perhaps doesn’t receive the attention he deserves a lot of the time is Fabinho.

The Brazilian has quietly and surely established himself as a central figure in Jurgen Klopp’s side, and he continues to impress with each passing performance.

In fact, Liverpool Echo journalist Ian Doyle has suggested that he is one of the best players in his position in the world.

He said: “I think you’d have to say Fabinho is up there, it’s difficult to know of anyone in the Premier League who’s better.

“You could maybe say Busquets, but he’s not quite as good as he used to be, Barcelona aren’t the team they were. In terms of the one’s we see week in, week out, Fabinho is the one that everyone looks to.”

In fairness to Doyle, he might not be too far away from the truth.

So far this season, the 25-year-old has a pass completion rate of 88.8% for the Reds, as well as making 2.9 tackles per game, as per Whoscored.

In term of how he measures up compared to the likes of Busquets, his Whoscored rating of 7.05 this season easily outstrips the Spaniard’s 6.91.

All in all, there can be little doubt that Fabinho is one of the best at what he does in England, and it’s not ridiculous to think that he is up there with the very best of his peers.

If he can continue mining his rich vein of form this season, then there’s no reason as to why he can’t eclipse them all entirely.
