OPINION
Simon Mignolet was in sublime form for Club Brugge on Tuesday night as the Belgian side earned a 2-2 draw against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in the Champions League group stages and there are understandably a number of Liverpool fans on Twitter who are thrilled for the former Anfield goalkeeper. Dennis scored to put Brugge ahead in the first half and before the striker added his second to double his side’s league, Mignolet pulled off a fantastic save to keep to Belgian’s ahead when he palmed away a close-range header from Rafael Varane. Some Liverpool fans seem to think that Mignolet’s top display at the Bernabeu is “revenge” for them. Real Madrid beat the Reds in the Champions League final last year and Mignolet could be viewing this game as a score to settle for his former club after he left Anfield in the summer to sign for Brugge. He has certainly impressed his old club’s supporters on Twitter, at least, and there was not a lot he could have done with the Madrid goals that levelled the game in the second half.
