A section of Liverpool fans on Twitter were not impressed by Sepp van den Berg in the first half against Arsenal on Wednesday night. The 17-year-old was handed his first senior appearance at Anfield by Jurgen Klopp but did little to impress some supporters on Twitter in the opening 45 minutes. Most of the criticism came after Lucas Torreira scored Arsenal’s equaliser. It was poor defending all around by the Liverpool defence so to single out van den Berg is pretty harsh. Hopefully the Dutch teenager is not going to become a new scapegoat because at the end of the day, there was poor defending by Joe Gomez and Naby Keita that led to Torreira’s goal, as well as van den Berg not doing enough. Van den Berg at least has the excuse that he is very inexperienced and playing against an Arsenal side that is not exactly starved of Premier League quality players.
