Jurgen Klopp clearly has a big belief in his Liverpool squad to continue their recent success.

The German decided against adding any senior outfield players to his side after the Reds came within a whisker of their first-ever Premier League title as well as securing their sixth Champions League trophy last season.

The only outfield players that Liverpool decided to add to their ranks were youngsters Sepp van den Berg and Harvey Elliott, who have featured more for the Reds’ academy this season.

It wasn’t a summer without links though, as Liverpool were reported to be in the hunt for Dinamo Zagreb attacker Dani Olmo, who has impressed since making the switch from Barcelona.

Liverpool were first linked with a move for Olmo by Sportske Novosti, with the Croatian news outlet claiming that Premier League rivals Manchester United were plotting a £35.9million bid to beat the Reds to the Spaniard in the summer.

MARCA reported that the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Valencia, AC Milan, Tottenham, and Atletico Madrid were all interested in challenging Liverpool, but that the price tag placed on Olmo simply slowed down his exit and sides were put off by the demands.

The Reds were spot on to not splash the cash on Olmo, who has only ever performed to a high standard in the Croatian League – something that doesn’t exactly prove he could make it in the Premier League.

He may be Zagreb’s standout player, scoring 12 goals and adding nine assists last season but his form nowhere near justifies his summer price tag.

The fact that Olmo remained at Zagreb this summer despite a number of clubs being interested in his services only highlights his ridiculous price, and that should be lowered if they want a pay-day by selling the 21-year-old.

Liverpool surely dodged a bullet by not pushing forward with their move for Olmo, with the price set for his services simply too much given his experience.
