Liverpool are tracking the progress of Leeds United loanee Ben White this season, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football outlet claim that the Reds’ scouts have been blown away by the development of the Brighton defender under Marcelo Bielsa so far this term.

The report states that his parent club now value the 22-year-old at more than £20million, and have high hopes that he can establish himself in their first-team beyond this season.

White has started all 11 Championship games for the Whites this season and picked up the PFA August Player of the Month award for a string of impressive performances in the heart of defence.

OPINION

The loaned-out Brighton man has certainly excelled whilst on loan at Leeds and has all the attributes needed to make it in the Premier League. His calmness in and out of possession makes him one of the better defenders in the Championship, and his range of passing is that of a midfield player. Jurgen Klopp likes his defenders to be cool on the ball and be able to start attacks, and that is exactly what White does for Bielsa in West Yorkshire. The 22-year-old averages 65.5 passes per game according to WhoScored, with an impressive success rate of 87.1%, proving his ability in possession. White doesn’t shy out of a physical battle either, averaging 2.4 tackles and completing 3.3 interceptions per outing, stats that prove his ability to be the complete package in the top-flight. With the potential guidance of both Bielsa and Klopp from an early age, there is no guessing the progression White could make, and Liverpool could be the perfect place for him to continue his rise to the top.
