Michael Owen has predicted that Liverpool will pick up another three points when they travel to Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.

The former Reds’ hitman shared that Villa were no match for Manchester City last time out, and believes that it will be exactly the same against Jurgen Klopp’s men in the Midlands.

Owen admitted that it should be a terrific occasion at Villa Park, but that he can’t see anything but a win for the Premier League table-toppers.

“Villa were no match for champions Manchester City at the Etihad at the weekend, and I don’t think they will be able to prevent the league leaders from taking another valuable three points,” he wrote in his BetVictor predictions blog on Wednesday.

“I can’t see past another win for the Reds in what promises to be a terrific occasion at Villa Park.”

Saturday’s game will be the first time Liverpool have gone to Villa Park since they battered their opponents 0-6 back in 2016.

OPINION

It is hard to look past Liverpool in any game they play this season. The Reds have been near unstoppable in all competitions, and are still unbeaten in the Premier League this campaign. Villa have been put to the pump a number of times this season and were lucky to come away from City at the Etihad Stadium only conceding three goals. As Owen points out, Dean Smith’s men conceded 2o shots on goal against Brighton in their last home game, and if they do the same against the Reds, they could get blown away in a matter of minutes. Liverpool made the decision to rest the majority of their big-name players in the Carabao Cup against Arsenal on Wednesday, so they will arrive in the Midlands with a near-perfect squad available to them for the game on Saturday – something Villa will surely not be looking forward too in the clash.
