Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba looks certain to miss the Red Devils’ Premier League clash with Liverpool on October 20th, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim on their website that the French international could be out until the end of October with a foot injury, despite undergoing a rehabilitation programme in Dubai recently.

The report states that despite optimism that he could be fit for the clash against the Reds, he is all but certain to miss out on the game against Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Manchester United staff are still uncertain on a return date for the 6’3″ midfielder [Transfermarkt], who will be absent as Liverpool look to extend their Premier League unbeaten run.

OPINION

This is great news for Liverpool, who will now travel to Old Trafford knowing that the Red Devils’ midfield is seriously lacking creativity and strength. Their next opponents were blown away against Newcastle United last time out by two teenage midfielders, and the Reds will be looking to take advantage of that fragility in the heart of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. Liverpool will want to impose themselves on the game as early as possible, and to have one of their opposition’s most influential players missing, will only help them achieve that and potentially post a vital win over Manchester United, who are seriously lacking in form at this moment. Pogba is the Red Devils’ creative spark in their side and has already delivered a couple of assists this season. The Frenchman has also averaged the most passes per game in the entire squad, with an impressive 73.6 according to WhoScored, a stat that can only be beaten by two Liverpool players. That highlights his importance in the heart of midfield, and his injury simply gives the Reds one less thing to worry about at Old Trafford.
