Legendary Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas has taken to Twitter to hail Liverpool front three Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino after the Reds’ 3-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday.

Both Salah and Mane were on the scoresheet as the Reds moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier League, and the World Cup winning stopper was eager to sing their praises alongside their Brazilian teammate.

Writing on his personal account, he said: “Difícil encontrar un tridente como este: Salah, Firmino & Mane”, which translates to: “Hard to find a trio like this: Salah, Firmino & Mane”.

OPINION

Casillas knows a thing or two about dominant teams having played in more than his fair share down the years, and so for him to pick out Liverpool’s front three is a real hallmark of their quality. Against City, they were all on song, but perhaps the most pleasing sight of all will have been Mo Salah having an absolute field day out on the right wing. The Egyptian King hasn’t quite been at his best so far this term, but he looked irresistible at Anfield yesterday, and with three shots, three successful dribbles, an overall Whoscored rating of 7.90, and a wonderfully taken goal, this was an afternoon to savour. The hope will be that he can now kick on from this and begin to recapture the irrepressible form that has made him such a renowned name on the global football scene. If he can do that, then the Reds, who are already in a commanding position, will fancy their chances of mopping up the title with plenty of games to spare.
