England international Danny Rose has revealed what he and Manchester City ace Raheem Sterling have been talking about since his ruck with Liverpool star Joe Gomez.

The Three Lions colleagues got into it in the canteen at St George’s Park on Monday, but Rose has claimed that it’s been business as usual since the original incident.

“Raheem is fine or as good as he can be,” he told talkSPORT. “I’ve been with him having dinner talking about everything – football, families. As I say we had a meeting last night and there is no time to dwell on things.

“We have a game in two days so if anything is going to be said or done it has to do be done after Sunday when we have qualified for the Euros and we are just concentrating on Montenegro and Kosovo.”

OPINION

It does seem as if everything has calmed down pretty quickly after things initially came to a head between Gomez and Sterling on Monday. Liverpool and Manchester City’s titanic struggle for Premier League supremacy only took place on Sunday, with the England players linking up the very next day. It was a high-stakes, high-pressure game which saw numerous players getting into little tiffs and having a case of handbags. So it’s not necessarily surprising that Sterling and Gomez clashed, especially after things got so heated between them on Sunday. Perhaps the City star felt like he needed to assert himself after being physically manhandled by the Reds ace during the game. Still, his behaviour was unbecoming, but it has all become such a massive deal now. Rose is trying to calm things down a bit and assert that everything is back to normal within the England camp. Whether that is the truth or not is unknown, but hopefully it doesn’t affect results over the international break.
