Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has urged his old club to win the race to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

Heskey’s old teammate Dietmar Hamann told Sky Germany recently that he’s heard that the European champions are interested in the England international, and the 41-year-old has now given his take.

“Jadon Sancho would be a good fit for any of the top two or three clubs, to be honest with you,” he told the Daily Star. “What he brings to the team, I think he would be fantastic for anyone in the Premier League, or in the world, he’s that good.

“His goals, assists, penetrating runs, frightening defences. He’d be good for anyone.”

OPINION

Heskey isn’t saying anything new, here. We know that Sancho is already a world class talent, an immense youngster with phenomenal promise who would improve every single team in world football. However, he plays in a position where Liverpool are already extremely well-stocked. Having said that, Roberto Firmino is now 28 years of age and while he won’t be on the decline just yet, it would be sensible for Jurgen Klopp and co. to start looking for the next top class attacker to integrate into their front three. The statistics from this Bundesliga season tell us just how talented the 19-year-old is. As per WhoScored.com, Sancho has scored three times and bagged five assists in eight games this term. Furthermore, he is averaging 1.8 shots, 1.8 key passes and 2.9 key passes per game. He is already a top class talent, and he’s only going to get better. It’s going to cost a hell of a lot of money to sign him, but there’s no doubt Sancho would be worth it for Liverpool or anyone else.
