Jordan Henderson could still play against Genk on Tuesday night, despite missing training on Monday, according to the Echo.

The £140,000-a-week Liverpool skipper [Spotrac] was not part of Jurgen Klopp’s session, sparking conversation as to his whereabouts.

But it is understood that the midfielder is not injured, and instead missed outdoor work to take part in a bespoke solo session inside.

The report also states that he is still a part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the Champions League clash at Anfield.

OPINION

This will be a massive relief for many Liverpool fans. Henderson isn’t always the most popular figure at Anfield, but having your captain fit and ready to contribute is always going to be more preferable than having him miss out through injury. The skipper’s stats aren’t the most eye-popping or jaw-dropping by any means, and his pass completion rate of 77.2% in the Premier League, plus a Whoscored rating of 6.88, will hardly set the world alight. But some footballers bring a lot more to a side than their numbers might suggest. Henderson is one of those. His work ethic and leadership qualities cannot be underestimated in this side, and while he may not be as illustrious as Sadio Mane or as imperious as Virgil van Dijk, he is still a crucial member of this team.
