Former Premier League midfielder Don Hutchison has aimed a sly dig at ex Republic of Ireland international Kenny Cunningham for his criticism of Liverpool midfielder Fabinho.
Off The Ball tweeted a video last week of Cunningham claiming the Brazilian was the Reds’ weak link and that he lacked alertness. BBC pundit Hutchison clearly disagreed with his verdict.
After the 26-year-old scored and put in a terrific display in Liverpool’s fantastic 3-1 victory over Manchester City on Sunday, Hutchison was quick to remind the public of Cunningham’s comments.
“And to think. som1 thought Fabinho was Liverpools weak link,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Cunningham’s comments were bizarre when they first came into the public sphere last week, and they were made to look even more foolish on Sunday. The former Monaco man was absolutely sensational against the champions, scoring the game’s opening goal with a stunning drive from distance which beat Claudio Bravo all ends up. There is simply no way that Fabinho is Liverpool’s weak link. One of the league leader’s most valuable players more like. The statistics from Sunday’s game demonstrate just how dominant Fabinho was against Pep Guardiola’s side. As per WhoScored.com, the Brazil international produced a tackle and two interceptions, to go with two shots (one was the goal) and a successful dribble. He also completed 82.9% of his 32 passes. Truly, this was a magnificent performance from Fabinho, one which proved to be a slap in the face for any remaining doubters like Cunningham. They surely must stay silent now.
