COMMENTARY

Many Liverpool fans ripped midfielder James Milner apart for his display against Genk on Tuesday night in the Championship League and they didn’t hold back. Jurgen Klopp’s side beat the Belgian side 2-1, and it seems that instead of focusing on the overall team performance, a large section of supporters wanted to single out Milner as being a reason why the result wasn’t even more positive. One Liverpool fan claimed Milner submitted a “disasterclass” performance again, while several moaned about his inability to complete his passes. When you consider the 33-year-old wasn’t playing in his ideal position against Genk, he was deployed as a left-back, you do feel Reds fans could have taken it a bit easier on him. After all, Milner has always given his all for the club in the 192 appearances he has made, and he has contributed to the cause this season. The veteran has scored once and assisted two goals in the Premier League across his eight league outings so far, and has been lively in matches as he has averaged one key pass per game.
