Liverpool talent Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to sign a “lucrative” sponsorship deal with Adidas, according to the Mirror

The 26-year-old is currently signed to Nike, who are set to take over as the Reds’ kit manufacturer at the end of the season.

But according to a report from the tabloid, the Ox is being heavily targeted by Adidas, who view him as one of England’s most marketable and popular stars.

OPINION

This wouldn’t be ideal for Nike, who will no doubt be very aware of just popular the Ox is, but from his and Adidas’ perspective, this should be a real positive deal. After all, when it comes to marketable talent, Ox is the full package. Talented and cool with a catchy nickname and an an affable personality, he is in many ways the ideal player to front an ad campaign. He’s in hot form too. That winning goal against Genk on Tuesday was his third in two Champions League matches so far this season, and his overall match rating of 8.12 showed just how electric he was, as per Whoscored. The Ox offers something a little bit different in the centre of the park, and his attacking talents and undeniable energy could be a real weapon for the Reds over the course of this season.
